Synopsis: Polarized could be described as a mix of Sarif’s 2008 film I Can’t Think Straight & the CBC tv sit com “Little Mosque on the Prairie” (2007-2012). Basically, it’s a star-crossed forbidden love story between aspiring country gal/musician Lisa & her boss Dalia. The 2 women are dissimilar in many ways; Lisa is the daughter of a local conservative Christian farming family whose land has been foreclosed on while the Dalia’s background is rooted in her closely knit Muslim family who operate a successful agricultural business. Family expectations & religion stand in the way of the developing relationship between the couple.

It’s a Small Sapphic World: Filmmaker Shamim Sarif is married to producer/casting director/ director Hanan Kattan. Sarif previously made the Sapphic flicks The World to Come (2007) & I Can’t Think Straight (2008).
